Tell us about your career:
I started in the apartment industry back in 2008, two weeks after I graduated college and have not looked back. I have been with the same company [Blue Ridge Companies] from the start. I am very thankful for this journey that I have been on - I spent a couple of years learning the leasing world [at a 408 unit lease up property], a few years as assistant manager, a rover [traveled for Blue Ridge], Community Manager, and then Operations Support Manager. Throughout the years, I have received my CALP and CAM.
What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:
Never let somebody tell you your goals are too big. Always shoot for the stars!! At a low performing property, I was told it was close to impossible to get $0.00 delinquency for the month and 100% occupancy, and to lower our expectations. I did NOT do that, and the next month we hit 100% occupancy and had $0.00 delinquency.
