Tell us about your career:
I began my career in August 2016 in Columbus, Ohio. I was working in the service industry and happened to be bartending for the right person at the right time who invited me in for an interview. I was hired as a leasing consultant, and worked my way up to a leasing manager role.
In January 2019, I moved to Winston Salem, NC and have been working as a property manager ever since. I have been with Grubb Properties since February 2021, and completed my very first lease-up beginning in June 2022 at Link Apartments® 4th Street. With Grubb's support in furthering education, I was able to earn my Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor [CAPS] designation in February 2022 through the PTAA and have held the credential since.
What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:
Be prepared to never have the same day twice! Additionally, your team is your family. Work together, have each other's back, make each other laugh. Be respectful and patient with your coworkers, your residents, and your prospects. At the end of the day, your level of customer service will stick with someone more than the layout of any apartment.
