Tell us about your career:
Over 30 years ago, I "took a job" as a Leasing Agent in the multi-housing industry. Little did I know that it would put me on a career path that I would come to love. Six months later, I accepted a position as a Service Coordinator with Phillips Management Group. I was quickly promoted to Property Manager of a Lease Up property across from UNCW in Wilmington, NC. I am currently serving as Property Manager at Matthew Grande Apartments and as a PMG Talent Team Trainor.
I am energetic, dedicated and fun-loving with a history of building successful teams who accomplish desired outcomes. Over the years, I have trained multiple team members who began with no background in multi-housing, and later received promotions within or outside of our company. My greatest pride and litmus test for success is when I feel like I have played a part in the success of others.
What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:
- Investing in others pays higher dividends than anything else. When you realize that it's not about you and you start living to set others up for success, you can have fun and love coming to work every day.
- There's no limit to what you can accomplish if you don't care who gets the credit.
- You can't expect what you don't inspect.
Anything else you would like to share:
When I was invited to transfer to Matthew Grande, the maintenance supervisor and leasing professional had resigned. We promoted the Maintenance Tech to the supervisor position. He won the PTAA Diamond Award for 2022! For the last two years, I have been a PTAA Diamond Awards finalist and a Phillips Management Group PM of the Year finalist as well. Most of my team members have been PTAA Diamond Award finalists. I love what I do and I am overjoyed with the success of my team.
