Tell us about your career:
I began my career as a leasing consultant in 2003 in Charlotte NC with Alliance Residential. Within three months I was promoted to Assistant Manager. In 2005 I started my career with Greystar as an Assistant Manager with only two properties in our portfolio. In 2007 I was promoted to Community Manager and worked at several properties including lease ups and stabilized garden style apartments. In 2013 I was selected to assist with one of Greystar's first international portfolios in Monterey Mexico and Mexico City that included midrise, high rise and student housing. I was promoted to Senior Community Manager in 2016 and took on the role as the Volunteer Liaison for the Southeast Region. Over my time as liaison, I have coordinated food drives, back to school collections, blanket drives for the women's shelter, fundraisers and walks for St Jude and Camp Hope. I have been an active member of the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association Outreach Committee since 2015 and I am currently co- chair of the Outreach Committee. In 2020 I was honored to receive the volunteer of the year award from the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association.
Over the years, I have humbly received the following Greystar Regional Pillar of Excellence Awards: Outstanding Achievement in Customer Service-2008, Community Service- 2016, Community Manager of The Year- 2017, Community Service- 2019. In 2021 I was honored to have the Greystar Pillar of Community Award named after me.
My goals in 2022 are to be a part of the Leadership Lyceum Class and receive my CAM Designation.
What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:
Communication is key. Learn for yourself and others. Look to gain and share knowledge by networking with your peers. The experience you can gain in Property Management in unimaginable. We are never experts in what we do, we should always be learning. Find time to give back to your team, to your residents and to your community.
