Tell us about your career:
I first learned about this career field while working a part-time position with a small real estate company in NoDa. When their business was closing due to bankruptcy in 2008, we were contracted to work at a community off Glenwood Avenue, and I became a leasing consultant. I loved leasing so much that it took me almost four years before I decided it was time to increase my knowledge and take on more challenging roles.
I went from leasing to community manager in 2012. I failed. I was not ready for the pressure and did not have enough knowledge. Oh, I know, we all want a 100% success story, but you will not find that here.
In 2013 I became an assistant manager with Fairfield Properties. Fell in love with this career again.
In 2016 I was promoted to community manager when Fairfield sold to Robbins ELCO. I've worked with other management companies along the way, learned, and met great friends along the way.
I'm currently with Blue Ridge Companies and have a wonderful support system. You are encouraged and expected to learn and grow. It has been challenging but fun.
Overall, I've worked from North Carolina to Texas, and I would not trade my journey for anything.
I've earned the Zero Delinquency Award, Customer Service Awards, Above and Beyond, Most-Improved Property of the Year, Property of the Year, Property of the Quarter, CAM credential, and Community Manager of the Year with the companies I have had the pleasure of learning and growing with.
I look forward to seeing where I'll go.
