Meet Your Director: Lisa Taylor

Lisa Taylor is on AANC's Board of Directors, a representative out of the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association. Lisa has worked in the industry for more than 20 years; during this time she has been very involved with her local association, serving as a Past President of the GCAA, and has served with AANC for the past 5 years. Get to know Lisa below!

What does volunteer leader mean to you? 

Giving back to an industry that has given me everything; building a resume; and helping build the next group of leaders.   

What is your proudest work/life moment? 

Winning the GCAA's Lex Marsh Award is such an honor, which is kind of a lifetime achievement award, but my career is not over!

What would you say is your biggest challenge?

Generally, it's a battle against the clock. There are only so many hours in a day/week and so much to do. I've overcome the challenge by prioritizing and working my calendar like an expert.

What advice do you have for others in the industry who are looking to serve in a leadership role?

Simply to say, you are not an industry leader, if you do not participate. It's immensely satisfying to have a positive influence on someone's career.

Share something unique about your local market. 

My mother was a Community Manager with McGuire Properties (predecessor to Summit Properties), and that's how I got started in the industry. 

If your entire life was a movie, what title would you give it?

Count Your Blessings, Not Your Burdens
Everyone has challenges, but you can't let them stifle your potential. 

North Carolina is the fourth largest state association and we need state leaders to focus on national leadership opportunities.
