Chief Justice Beasley Updates

Chief Justice Beasley released her Order today closing most court matters until after January 14, 2021. Theoretically most courts should still accept new filings but not schedule until after January 14, 2021. In addition to reinstating this Emergency directive, she is also extending several other Directives from the past month.

On another note, over the weekend Chief Justice Beasley conceded to opponent Paul Newby in the race for North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice. A tightly close race Justice Newby by 401 votes after the recount to cement his victory. AANC has sent congratulations to Justice Newby as he takes on this new role in the new year.
