Tell us about your career:

I began my career in the multifamily industry like many others – without knowing exactly what I was joining. In 2014 I began working with Artisent Floors and moved to Des Moines, Iowa as the Branch Manager to help open our newest location at that time. After a year and a half there, I moved to Kansas City, Missouri to be the Branch Manager of our location that had opened and spent four years running that operation, which gave me valuable experience. In 2020 my family and I moved to Tampa, Florida for me to be the Branch Manager and help open our first Florida location. This opening proved to be the most difficult challenge to that point because we had to learn how to navigate growing a location that had just opened weeks before Covid shut everything down. After working in that role for three years and helping grow our Tampa footprint, I was promoted to Regional Vice President, overseeing our locations in Florida and North Carolina in 2023.

Over my 10 years with Artisent Floors I’ve been able to gain amazing experience in multiple areas of flooring work that continue to help us succeed as a company today – regular monthly turns, full scope rehabs, student turns, and new construction. In addition to each local association, I’ve become more involved in the state Apartment Associations over the last couple of years, both North Carolina and Florida, as well as consistently attending meetings of the National Apartment Association, pushing to get more involved at the national level.

Looking back at what I’ve been able to be a part of as Artisent Floors continues to grow and expand into new markets and states is so rewarding. Seeing all the people I’ve been able to help bring into this industry and allow them to find success has been fulfilling, to say the least.

What advice do you have for someone just starting in your field:

Get as involved as much as possible with your local Apartment Association. The more you can do to show up, meet people, and join events that are happening, the more beneficial it will be for your development. Relationships are the backbone of the multifamily industry, so meeting and networking with people can only have a positive impact.
